What Is Generation POUND?

Generation POUND is a unique exercise method inspired by the energizing, infectious, and fun of playing the drums. Using Ripstix®, lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercising, this youth oriented program was designed to transform drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out!

The program fuses movement and music to improve focus, coordination, physical fitness, and teamwork skills for children any age and any stage.

A program that can come to life anywhere!
We use Ripstix® to learn alternative ways to explore movement.
The power of Generation POUND encompasses more than just physical fitness. Combining kid-friendly choreography and group activities, it promotes social and emotional well-being by fostering relationships, building self-esteem and self-awareness, and inspiring the next generation of happy, healthy kids.

Why Generation POUND?

We all know that exercise is great for us. We feel better when we work out, both mentally and physically, we have more energy, and we stay healthier.

But why Generation POUND specifically?

Well, we think it’s the most FUN workout around, and have seen the way kids LIGHT UP and enjoy exercise when they get into a Generation POUND class.

But, the program has been designed with a few other key pillars as well:

What We Will Cover In Term 4:

Introducing students to POUND

  • What POUND is,
  • How to use Ripstix,
  • How to move safely with music
  • And the musical concepts of beat and tempo.

ROCKSTAR Movement

We will explore primary muscle movers within Generation POUND’s three positions.

Students will discover POUND’s Movement Spectrum and Borg’s CR10 Scale as they experiment with various intensity options.

Movement Musicians

Students will progress to understanding of the beat, expanding it to include different rhythms and riffs.

Students will begin to think about how music elicits different emotions and explore their thoughts and feelings as they move through technique patterns that contain different complexities, intensities, and challenges.

I Am A ROCKSTAR Because

This lesson gives students the opportunity to ROCKOUT, MAKE NOISE, and UNLEASH THE ROCKSTAR WITHIN!

We will explore Rockstar qualities, including the ones they personally possess, and gain experience teaching and learning movement with their peers.

Express Yourself

This lesson is all about being YOU and being LOUD and PROUD about it!

While we make some serious noise, students will experiment with what happens within their bodies and minds when they turn up the volume in Generation POUND class and will be encouraged to get creative with their own unique sequence of Ripstix strikes, creating a melody of patterns and sounds that express different emotions.

Louder Together

Introduce students to components of physical fitness, the potential Generation POUND has to promote total body fitness, and the powerful benefits of drumming together with others.

Recap
